Beth Israel Congregation

Fayetteville, NC

Beth Israel Congregation is a multi-generational, multi-cultural community. Our congregation is over 100 years old with founding families still in residence. We open our doors for traditional Jewish connection to a "hometown" congregation that encourages participation of spouses & children as well as individuals and families seeking a social and spiritual community. Fayetteville has had a Jewish presence for over 200 years. A small German colony was superseded by the arrival of East European immigrants who founded an Orthodox congregation in 1910 and established a permanent community. Beth Israel is the home to many prominent citizens like the Stein and Fleishman families who have been communal and civic leaders. Mayor Monroe Evans guided the town through the Civil Rights era. The large military presence at Fort Bragg underwrites the town's economy. Beth Israel, now a Conservative synagogue, serves a varied community including soldiers and military families. Diverse Jewish backgrounds and traditions in the military add treasured depth and substance to our community. We work in partnership with the committed active duty and reserve chaplains who service the Jewish community to foster a meaningful Jewish experience in Fayetteville. Our community believes in creating a Jewish home for single soldiers and military families within the sandhills of North Carolina.
